“The 2S/Trans ID Peer Support program at Sunshine House was created to remove barriers faced by anyone trying to update their IDs to reflect their gender identity and/or chosen name. While there are a number of places now that help fill out vital stats application forms, many people need additional assistance covering fees, connecting to a medical practitioner, replacing documents or just navigating an intimidating process. We also offer advocacy on behalf of participants at vital stats when necessary, whether or not they applied through Sunshine House. “Removing barriers” means being as much or as little involved in the process as someone wishes, and we meet one-on-one instead of doing group ID clinics to tailor support to the individual.”

Certificates will be provided to attendees at the end of the day. Please note: participants are required to attend both sessions in order to receive a certificate.”

Shared Health - Gender Diversity & Affirming Action for Youth (GDAAY)

https://sharedhealthmb.ca/services/gdaay/

“Gender Diversity and Affirming Action for Youth (GDAAY) is a program in Winnipeg that offers integrated care for youth in Manitoba during their gender affirming journey. Every youth’s journey is different and our program aims to support youth through the transition they feel is affirming for them.  Our waitlist can be long and we are working to shorten it, however this will take time. We know the waiting period can be a challenging time for youth. There are many steps in a youth’s gender affirming journey that can be done without medications or that can be started by a family doctor or pediatrician. Please see information about transitioning steps for youth and families as well as for health care professionals.”

Rainbow Resource Centre - Trans ID Clinic

(204) 474-0212

“Do you need help updating your name or gender marker on your ID documents? Come join one of our upcoming clinics! Clinics are run in partnership with law students from Pro Bono Students Canada - University of Manitoba Chapter, and are under direct supervision of an insured lawyer. We will also have a Nurse Practitioner on-site to provide supporting letters to people who do not have a trusted or trans affirming family doctor/health care provider. These supporting letters are standardized forms provided by Vital Statistics Manitoba and are required for anyone applying to update their gender marker on Manitoba identification.

These clinics are drop-in based and first come, first served and are in-person at Rainbow Resource Centre. When you arrive, you will be required to fill out a printed form indicating what documents you are seeking to update, as well as how far along in the process you are. We encourage you to bring 2 pieces of ID to help with the completion of your documents.”
